As far as FF7R though – I never had the attachment to FF that longtime fans do, so I definitely don’t have the same kind of emotional attachment to it like I’ve seen some of my friends and some YouTubers have, but even I can tell that SquareEnix actually tried with this one. It’s maps are almost as linear as FFXIII’s (got the number right this time lol) maps, but it has significantly better everything else – characters, world building and story. It’s been hella fun playing it and watching the emotional reactions of the longtime fans playing it on YT.
As much as some people will probably turn their nose up at me, this remake is doing to me what the original did for people back in the day. Half way through this Episode 1 (of however many there will be) and this is already by far both the best FF I’ve ever seen and my absolute favorite one.
